Seeing the earth in constant flux whether by human intervention or natural processes is central to my work.  The Displacement Series originated as a reaction to viewing aerial maps of fracking sites in the US.  Often disrupting organic forms with geometry in my work reflects human intervention imposed on nature.  To this point, Displacements #2 and #8 contain a faint contour map of a fracking site overlaid with circle patterns. The circle motif, an abstract representation of bore holes from the fracking process, is also echoed in the removal of small paper circles in the applied chine collé layer. The circles distort the contour mapping of the earth with layers of linear complexity and contrasting color that creates perceptual movements and color shifts. This layering alters the map of the earth’s terrain to the point of being invisible or ghostlike.

As a painter, I use printmaking as an extension of drawing creating one of a kind images versus editions.  This allows me to generate and experiment with imagery in a series that parallels my painting process.
