Imagery from the unconscious is the focus and the method of my painting. The challenge for me is to figure out how much definition of forms is enough to permit the painting to engage the viewer but remain sufficiently fluid so that viewers might experience the shape-shifting nature of imagery from the unconscious themselves. Compositionally, I try to help viewers detect multiple planes and presences to explore but without presuming I know everything the image contains.  A painting is complete when a feeling-intuition announces to me, “That’s enough.  Now let others discover their own visions in it.”
