Artists have made images and objects of human forms with animal heads throughout Art History, going all the way back to the cave paintings of 25,000-40,000 years ago. These hybrids have inhabited legends, mythology, and even entertainment and popular culture. I see my Golden Doll series as a continuation of this human tradition. I am interested in the how golden objects can be seen to embody the divine through the eyes of ancient religions, yet still be made of less precious contemporary materials. Essentially these dolls to me, are a form of play, that touches base with symbology, iconography, history, and the fantastic!
