Communion felted wool roving $1,200 I use natural wool roving which I needle felt to create the sculpture. The play of light and shadow as well as the “fuzziness” of the material help to emphasize the eeriness of the lifelike sculpture. The addition of the environment and squirrels invites the viewer into the fantasy world. I seek to explore a balance between two narratives. The viewer may initially assume that the sweetness and innocence often associated with childhood is the narrative. However, on a closer look, reflected in the expression, the figure is solemn, pensive, and melancholic.
