This sculpture was inspired from the video games Final Fantasy VII (Bahamut dragon) and Legend of Dragoon (armor design). During the process of making this sculpture, it was initially a three piece, all ceramic sculpture. Both of the wings were initially made of ceramic, however they were too small and didn’t fit what I had imagined. If I made the ceramic wings any bigger, it would be too heavy and fragile, so I ended up using paper to build a larger and lighter version of the wings. I finished the ceramic body with metallic acrylic paint.

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life. From puzzle game to role-playing games, it has helped me to develop problem-solving skills and open me to a new realm of unlimited possibilities. This is why I’m working toward being a concept artist for a gaming company, or a visual special effects artist for the entertainment industry. I want to have the same impact on others through my work as the many great concept and creature designers of the past.
