Tacos Nachos

My work is very regional in nature, currently I am residing in Edinburg, TX on the US/MX border. This piece is inspired by the many “Raspa” stands or snack shacks that pop up during the hotter months in the Valley, raspas are a type of snowcone, many of these little businesses sell other regional treats such as corn on the cob, Mexican candies, nachos and tacos (which are more of what we would consider a burrito in California). For the most part these little shacks are all over the Rio Grande Valley and open only seasonally and some of them are just left empty for years, now defunct. This piece is reminiscent of some of those weathered hand lettered signs promoting those tasty treats of summer in the Valle.
