Color is the essential element in all of my paintings and they are meant to be representations rather than portraits of places. I'm interested in capturing the feeling of a place rather than the exact details, though my landscapes are based on real scenes that I've sketched or photographed. I work quickly and spontaneously mixing my colors and applying the paint to canvas in a way that calls to mind familiar scenes but remains essentially paint on canvas.
