The depictions of scuttled ships and fractured building facades symbolically depicts a state of indecision within my work. The juxtaposition between the uniformity of pattern and the irregularity of degraded textures offers the viewer a chance to reflect on their own sense of limbo. Through this reflection, the viewer might come to a decision between holding onto a lost past or to move forward. The patterned elements of my work are produced through a silk screen process that uses pigmented porcelain slip instead of ink. The image is printed onto a plaster slate then transferred onto a sheet of wet clay that is used to construct the completed work.
