Love has inspired poets, musicians, and artists throughout history. It's the emotion that connects us with the sublime. I also am inspired by the theme of love, and it is at the heart of all my artwork, along with the accompanying emotions of longing, hope, desire and joy. "To thine own self be true" borrows it's title from poetry, and the visual narrative is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. I often let the clay crack and break where it wants for my tile paintings, to give a feeling of timeless history, ruins on a wall, and the randomness of events in life..
