4.5" x 3.25" x 4" $65 In my work, I seek to combine the evolving traditions of the modern/contemporary art pallet (white, black, etc.), the delicacy of traditional fine Victorian China (lightweight and elegant), and earthy textures that reference nature and its philosophical correlation to us as is apparent in traditional Japanese Mingei wares. My goal is to make wares that are unassumingly comfortable for everyday use, rough, yet are refined and delicate. By using the fewest number of elements (texture and form), I seek to subtly increase the viewer’s sensitivity of how utilitarian objects relate to their bodies. The utilitarian object becomes an extension of ourselves. |
