Tempest in a Teacup portrays the mash up of global cultures through the use of a Japanese Godzilla character stomping through a Chinese Willow Ware decorated English pottery form. “Momzilla” is unleashed, breaking down women’s role of domestication, leaving a path of destruction in her wake.

Potty Mouth
earthenware, hand built, multi-fired: cone 04-019, underglaze, mason stain, glaze, lusters
13.5" x 15.5" x 8"
2014
$750

Potty Mouth uses produce from the farmers’ markets and my own garden for inspiration to literally put a face on the importance of fresh food. Like in a child’s creation, arms protrude from the head and wave a lipstick that has seemingly circumscribed the mouth of the squash. Filled with squirmy rotting seeds, just imagine what that mouth is saying!
