I have been working with earthenware or terra cotta for some time. I have always looked at it as the workingman’s clay, something gritty like brick. The work of clay material craftsmen has always been a part of my inspiration--brick work, tile, architectural terra cotta, and pottery. Paying homage to clay and the breadth in how we use it is important. I see my work as organic, intuitively choreographed drawings. My work reflects an assemblage of the things we find as remnants or artifacts of the human experience. The remnants serve as evidence of our practicality, illustrating the persistence and transience of our existence and experience.
