Slow Going coil and slab built stoneware clay under glazed with acrylic paint accents; reclaimed and distressed metal novelty tricycle 15" x 17" x 11" $375 It began with a tricycle, both this sculpture and my fascination with wheels. At three it was a tricycle, a two-wheeler at five when I learned to ride my big sister’s bicycle. Wheels became freedom to expand my world and to travel around the neighborhood. Today the magnetic appeal of all things with wheels: bikes, skates, mopeds, and cars; so naturally they feature in my art. This piece is about the freedom or lack thereof in our personal mobility, physical or our perception of freedom. Slow Going is in the slow lane and does not appear to be happy about it.
