Using form, texture, and color as my vocabulary I speak of my life experiences. My form is vessels, primarily the human body. I find that personal stories unify us as they are easily understood as a human experience unrelated to gender, religion, or color of skin.
I work with a solid mound of multiple clays (for color and texture), organic materials (for their imprint), and ceramic/mason stains. I shape the form using rough wooden sticks (for extra texture). The finished sculpture is hollowed out, fired to cone 2, cold stained, and brushed in certain areas vigorously with a stiff brush and water.
