Sambe uses handcrafted sculpture and food packaging hybridized to represent the pleasure of consumer culture. Color palette is chosen between Japanese wood block print and American advertisement. Sambe explores the cultural interaction between the international food industry and the creative and sometimes bizarre logic of its advertising. This theme is entertaining and highlights the implied threat to global consumers. Advertising manipulates and distorts reality to stimulate the imagination and to translate a product into hope and satisfaction. Sambe aims to expose bizarre aspect of consumer's lives through the absurdity of the advertising culture.
