This piece is specifically about my emotions surrounding fertility – how it is so beautiful to bring new life into this world and at the same time, it can be costly, demanding and it can require an extreme amount personal selflessness. The bunny and the flora both act as symbols of reproduction. Color plays an important role in my work – it stands to signify contrasting ideas. The black and white signifies rigidity, while the berries, full of life and color, signify flexibility. The gold stands for prosperity and wealth as well as vanity and adornment while the choice to use porcelain allows me to convey a sense of purity. This piece is a part of a new body of work that addresses my conflicting sentiments on the joy and struggle of adulthood.
