Keeper references the visual language of the casinos that pepper the cities and rural towns within the Nevada landscape. The figure alludes to the attempted elegance of the architecture and interior design of these casinos, especially the neoclassic sculptures and seductive gold embellishments often found there. The visual layers suggest both the allure and contradictory reality of these places. Like the casinos, the figure is simultaneously attractive and dingy, enticing and ominous, charming and haunting.
