The mask-like trees in this piece serve as a visual metaphor for the risks incurred when we allow our sight to be turned too far inward. The trees protect the figure, but at the risk of creating a kind of self-imposed prison that interferes with the ability to see clearly. “Myomasca” is a hybrid word for “myopic” and an early form of the word “mask” or “masca”.
