Artist Statement

Body language and facial expressions are signals we always give off and interpret in other people. Nonverbal cues are so important for communication in our daily lives, yet we often do not seem to be conscious of them. Tiles, bowls, plates and other ceramic objects, like body language, are functional tools that we use everyday without taking much conscious notice. By fusing the expressive human figure with ceramic objects I intend to evoke an emotional tie between the viewer and the ceramic objects of our daily lives.
