Artist Statement
When I took my first class in ceramics, I immediately fell in love
with the medium. I loved to get
messy and make stuff. Today I
create
a variety of artwork from complex sculptural assemblages to
functional pottery. I like to make
art that is both pleasing and alive.
My goal is to pursue the interplay of shape and surface texture that
intrigues the eye and demands to be touched. My current work explores wheel-thrown forms that are
manipulated and assembled. They represent relationships between simplicity,
complexity, fragility, and robustness.
