wheel thrown and hand built earthenware, electric fired to cone 04 $1,500 In Give Me Liberty, Paul Revere’s ride is depicted on the large-scale cup and saucer, around which hand-carved cowboys, Indians, and military men action figures play out a gun battle to death. The cup’s bucolic scenery is seemingly pierced with bullet holes and blood splattered. The viewer is left to ponder the meaning of liberty in our time and how male children are raised with stereotypes infused with machismo and violence while females are associated with fragility and home. |
