Dr. Elizabeth Blanchard named |
“I’m accepting this honor on behalf of all those volunteers who have given and stillgive unselfishly to make our communities a better place to call home,” said Blanchard.
Liz Blanchard has performed endless service to Delta College and the City of Stockton through the decades, in addition to serving as a Port of Stockton Commissioner since 2008. She’s currently the Port’s chairperson, and president of the Association of Pacific Ports, which encompasses Asian ports like Taiwan, Guam, and the Samoan Islands.
Dr. Blanchard retired from Delta College in 2006 after a long career as a professor and administrator. Not done yet, Dr. Blanchard was an adjunct faculty member at Delta until 2012. Still dedicated to the college, Dr. Blanchard serves as a board member on the Delta College Foundation, the fundraising arm for the college.
Dr. Blanchard, who's 88, was married to the late Dr. Joe Blanchard, former Superintendent/President of Delta College (1969-76) and considered one of its founding fathers.
“Delta’s staff inspires me to serve our students and communities with compassion – we, in turn, challenge our students to give back to society with compassion.” Blanchard, explains that we must put our “best foot forward” as examples to our students. “That’s what keeps me going.”
It’s not too hard to find Liz on campus. She attends many Delta College activities and events. Stop by and say “congratulations!” We thank Dr. Blanchard for her boundless service to Delta College and the City of Stockton. See you on campus, Liz!
