Delta College launch Spring Preschool Education Scholarship

(Stockton, CA) Phinnie International Education Group delegates from Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, visited San Joaquin Delta College during the fall semester to launch the inaugural lnternational Preschool Education Scholars Exchange Program.

Starting in spring 2017, ten Phinnie International Scholarships/Internships will be available to qualified Delta College Early Childhood Education graduates to study in China. All major expenses will be paid in full, up to $30,000. The scholarship award is good for up to two years, renewable after one year. If successful, the pilot project will be used as a model and extended to other institutes of higher learning.

"This international scholarship is a tremendous opportunity for our Early Chilhood Education students," said Superintendent/President Dr. Kathy Hart. "The arrangements are very generous, and will offer cooperation opportunities between China and the United States."

The Chinese delegation met with Dr. Hart, and Humanities, Social Science, Education, Kinesiology and Athletics Dean, Dr. Steve Graham, to discuss aspects of the Phinnie Scholarship/Internship Program. The delegation also discussed Early Childhood Education concepts with Delta professor Angela Beyer, and toured the campus, which included a visit to Delta's Hazel Hill Child Development Center.

This ground-breaking scholarship/internship opportunity between the Phinnie International Education Group and San Joaquin Delta College will serve as an inaugural teacher exchange program for Early Childhood Education graduates with AA degrees. In addition, the program will play a roll in East-West cultural sharing and globalization efforts.
