Delta College Foundation adds three new members for 2017

New Delta College Foundation members for 2017: Claudia Moreno, Chuck Bloch, Pat Doyle

(Stockton, CA) As the fundraising arm for the college, the Delta College Foundation’s goal is to create opportunities for students, and promote and nurture excellence in the college’s higher education programs. Not only that, the Foundation is charged with contributing to the economic well-being of the community. The Foundation sprang into 2017 with three new members dedicated to advancing those objectives. Joining the Foundation are former Delta College trustee Claudia Moreno, retired Delta social science/history professor Chuck Bloch, and retired Delta Mustangs baseball coach and faculty member, Pat Doyle.

As a Stockton Unified School District counselor, Delta College graduate and former board member, Claudia Moreno brings valuable experience and a strong sense of community to the Foundation. “I’m passionate about wanting to make a difference for our students,” says Moreno. “Education is the key to success for our students. The Delta College Foundation plays a vital role in student achievement throughout our district.”

Retired Delta professor and former Stockton Unified School District board member, Chuck Bloch, is known as “Delta College’s historian.” In fact, Bloch has written a detailed history of the college from its inception in 1934. If you want to know about Delta College and Stockton, Mr. Bloch is the person in the know! “The Foundation has a long, steadfast history of working with the college to encourage students to continue their education,” says Bloch. “It’s an honor to join the Foundation Board.”

Retired Delta College faculty member Pat Doyle had a distinguished career as Delta’s Baseball coach. His athletic honors are numerous, including: Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame; Lodi Athletic Hall of Fame, and California Community College Baseball Hall of Fame. Mentoring young student/athletes is a trademark of Pat’s career. He wants to continue that work on the Foundation by reaching out to Delta alumni. “A major goal for me is to establish a viable and impactful connection with Delta’s alumni. These efforts will lead to numerous opportunities to enhance the positive influence of our Delta College graduates on our students and community.”

As successful as the Delta College Foundation is, it still needs private donations for scholarships, in addition to funds to purchase equipment for Delta’s outstanding Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. The Foundation is a tax-exempt, nonprofit under IRS Code 501.3C. All contributions are tax deductible. Interested in contributing to the educational and economic success of our community?
