L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery Presents:
Horton Gallery Student Art Show, April 20 - May 18

(Stockton, CA) San Joaquin Delta College's L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery presents the 18th Annual Student Art Exhibition & Awards Competition, April 20–May 18, 2017. An opening reception and awards presentation will be held Thursday, April 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Gallery exhibitions are FREE and open to the public.

This exhibit features the artworks of Delta College students. The annual juried exhibition is open to students of all disciplines campus wide. The visual arts faculty juries the exhibition, and issues awards based on technical proficiency, creativity, and the commitment to growth within the visual arts. The Awards Competition provides an opportunity for Studio Arts majors to receive recognition and prize awards. Students competing for an award submit a body of work and address their creative goals through a written statement. Awards are sponsored by the Clancy Family Foundation and the Gallery Foundation. There are seven disciplines awarded $100 each, including: Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Painting, Photography Printmaking, and Sculpture, 5 Merritt Awards for $50, and one $200 award for the Best in Show.

The L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery is a program of the Art Department in the Arts & Communications Division, and is a premier exhibition space located on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College. The primary mission of the Gallery is to support Student Learning Outcomes in the visual arts curriculum by building knowledge within the aesthetic, technical, cultural and historical context of the visual arts. The Gallery offers excellent exhibition opportunities to local, regional, and national artists, lenders and guest curators. The Gallery presents artists’ work in all media, with no thematic or geographic restrictions. Student Exhibitions are held annually at the end of Spring Semester. Exhibitions are selected through a Call for Entries process, juried by the Gallery Committee and guest jurors.

The Gallery is located on the ground floor of Shima Center, and is wheelchair accessible. Admission is FREE and open to the public. Recommended parking is available in the Shima lot for $2 from parking lot pass dispensers. Tours are welcome, and Gallery Talks and special needs may be addressed by contacting Gallery Director Jan Marlese: 209-954-5507, jmarlese@deltacollege.edu.
