Delta College DREAM Conference |
(Stockton, CA) San Joaquin Delta College’s annual DREAM Conference is scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2018. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the DeRicco Student Services Building. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The keynote speaker, Bianca Duenas, Esq., Equal Justice Works Fellow, is sponsored by the Ottinger Foundation and works for the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation (CRLAF). CRLAF partnered with Delta’s Office of Student Equity and Diversity to provide free legal counsel to students. Ms. Duenas will share her incredible journey and accomplishments as the daughter of immigrant farmworkers in San Joaquin County who persevered to become an attorney and give back to the community.
Delta’s academic advisor, Marc Anaya looks forward to another successful event. “We want the community to know that Delta not only welcomes all students, we are committed to sharing information and providing support so everyone has an equitable chance to succeed." This year’s conference will focus on informing students and their families about their legal rights, educational opportunities available at Delta College, community resources, and best practices and information for supporters and allies.
In
addition to an inspirational keynote address, participants will
interact with various representatives from Delta College Student
Services departments and community organizations. Delta students will be
informed about Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs,
transfer, and financial aid opportunities. Prospective students will
receive information about admissions, financial aid, resources and
academic programs.
Registration is FREE: http://tinyurl.com/DeltaDream. Walk-ins are welcome!
This is the second conference presented by the Undocumented Student Allies of San Joaquin Delta College, comprised of representatives from the Counseling and Special Services Division, Student Equity and Diversity, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Activities, Marketing and Outreach, MESA, and faculty.
