San Joaquin Delta College All-Day Summer Basketball/Sports Camps for Kids!

Delta College Basketball once again offers its exciting Summer Basketball/Sports Camps for Kids! This year’s camps are open to boys and girls, ages 5-13, and are all-day events, 9am - 4pm. The final week of camps will be held July 25-29. Camps will take place at Delta’s beautiful Blanchard Gym.

The camp will be run by Lady Mustangs head basketball coach Gina Johnson, who’s Mustangs are perennial Big 8 Conference and State Championship contenders. Coach Johnson's tradition of excellence as the Lady Mustangs basketball coach includes: 12 Conference Championships, five State Final Four appearances (most recently 2015), and two seasons as runner-up at the State Championship. Johnson will be assisted by Lia McCoy, who brings eight years of college coaching experience to at the summer program.

Coach Johnson is excited about this year’s camps. “Young athletes will not want to miss this excellent opportunity to take their games to new heights, and have fun while learning.”  Coaches Johnson and McCoy believe skills and fundamentals are the key to improvement as a basketball player. “The camp is designed for kids 5-13 years old,” says Johnson. “We have planned what promises to be three unbelievable weeks of fun, skills instruction, energized by team oriented basketball.”

Basketball won’t be the only activity at this year’s camps. After a full morning sharpening your basketball skills, there will be an exciting afternoon activity. Those activities will feature a variety of different sports, including swimming to cool off. “Each day of camp promises to be filled with exciting games, prizes, and new athletic activities,” adds Coach Lia McCoy.
