For Immediate Release Delta College to Award $208,000 in Scholarships
(Stockton, CA) San Joaquin Delta College will award over $208,000 in scholarships to 191 students at its annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony, Thursday, August 18, 4:30 p.m. in Atherton Auditorium. A reception to honor the recipients will follow in Danner Hall. The public is welcome. Delta College's Scholarship Awards Ceremony has been an annual event since 1980 when the first program awarded $43,000. Over the past 36 years, the program has awarded an amazing $6,014,625 in scholarships! The event recognizes achievements of San Joaquin Delta College students, and the generosity of many local individuals and organizations whose financial support honors and promotes higher education. Delta College Superintendent/President Kathy Hart says, "Delta’s success in building its scholarship fund depends on the labors of its employees and the generosity of community members, even during tough economic times." Organizing the Scholarship Awards Ceremony takes many months. The application process involves countless hours of volunteer time. Hart emphasizes, “Delta College scholarships help our students’ achieve their academic and career goals. We deeply appreciate the commitment of our staff and community partners.
