Delta College's Trustee Steve Castellanos
(Stockton, CA) San Joaquin Delta College Trustee Steve Castellanos was appointed as the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Pacific Regional Chair at their October Leadership Conference in New Orleans.
Founded in 1972, the ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards representing over 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who administer over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges across the U.S.
“I am honored to have been selected as the Pacific Regional Chair, in addition to being reelected to a three-year term as the Pacific Regional Director,” said Castellanos. “The ACCT makes decisions that affect over 11 million students annually. We work to strengthen the capacity of community colleges to foster the realization of their missions at the local, state, and national levels.”
Castellanos says he has a “unique opportunity” to network with colleagues from across the Pacific Region with a dialogue on higher education. “I’m focused on student success and equity. As ACCT Pacific Regional Chair, I hope to act as an advocate for positive, actionable board policies.” Castellanos says his service with the ACCT will harvest immediate benefits for Delta’s board. “There are so many exciting things happening across the country at community colleges. I look forward to keeping our trustees up to speed on great ideas we can examine for Delta College.”
Castellanos finishes, “Sharing the recipe for student success at Delta College and across California is my goal as ACCT Pacific Regional Chair.”
Steve Castellanos was first elected to
Delta’s Board in 2008, representing Area 5, Northern District. Area 5 includes parts of San Joaquin County, Sacramento County and Calaveras County.
