Delta College's annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Atherton Auditorium

(Stockton, CA) San Joaquin Delta College will award over $203,000 in scholarships at its annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Thursday, August 13, 3 p.m. in Atherton Auditorium. The public is welcome. A reception to honor the recipients will follow in Danner Hall.

This year, 330 students will receive awards, with many receiving multiple scholarships. Students are awarded scholarship money under various criteria, including grade point average (GPA) and demonstrated financial need. Awards range from $100 to $2,000.

Delta’s Scholarship Awards Ceremony has been an annual event since 1980, when the first program awarded $43,000 in scholarships. Over the past 35 years, Delta’s scholarship program has awarded an amazing $5,806,575 in scholarships. This event recognizes the achievements of San Joaquin Delta College students and the generosity of many local individuals and organizations whose financial support makes the Scholarship Awards Ceremony possible.

Delta College Superintendent/President Kathy Hart says "Delta’s success in building its scholarship fund depends on the labors of its employees and the generosity of community members, even during tough economic times." Hart points out, "Organizing Scholarship Awards Ceremony takes many months. The application process is very involved and takes countless hours of volunteer time. We deeply appreciate the commitment of our staff and community partners. We couldn't do it without them!”

Kathy Hart finishes, “The scholarship ceremony is one that makes everyone ‘feel great.’ I always look forward to watching the joy and gratitude as we help make our scholarship recipients’ academic dreams come true!”
