                                          Mt. San Antonio 51 - Mustangs 47
(Norwalk, CA)
It was an exciting game. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 6 point lead, but by halftime, it was the Mt. San Antonio Mounties that grabbed a 6 point lead. The Mustangs came back from a 10 point deficit with a run in the second half to take a 4 point lead with about 5 minutes left, but after that, Mt. San Antonio got more shots to drop in the last few minutes to defeat the Mustangs, 51 - 47.

It was a fantastic season for Coach Gina Johnson’s Lady Mustang! They finished 27-6, were NorCal Champs and had another Final 4 appearance! GREAT TEAM, GREAT PLAYERS, GREAT COACHES, GREAT SEASON!

CONGRATULATIONS MUSTANGS! 2013-14 NORCAL CHAMPS!
DELTA MUSTANGS 82 - SIERRA COLLEGE 71

Coach Gina Johnson’s #1 ranked Mustangs won a hard-fought battle against perennial rival and
#4 ranked Sierra College, 82-71 on Saturday (March 8) to win the CCCAA NorCal Basketball Championship. The Mustangs advance to the
"Final 4" of the California Community College Championship, March 14-16 at Cerritos College in Norwalk.

The road to the Final 4 wasn't easy. The highly touted Sierra team seemed to make almost every shot in the first half, building a commanding 10 point lead. The scrappy Mustangs kept the game close toward the end of the half with a brutal defense. After gaining some offensive rhythmn, they pulled to within 3 points by intermission.

In the second half, the Mustangs came out on fire, taking the lead with timely 3 pointers, an unrelenting defense and great rebounding. As the half wore on, the Mustangs pulled away with consistent play against an excellent Sierra team, winning 82-71.

Marshanique Hall let the Mustangs with 15 points, 12 coming in the second half. Kelci Haueter had 14 points, including two early second half 3-pointers to help Delta take a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

"This was probably our best second half of the season against a quality team," said Coach Gina Johnson. The win was the 15th in a row for the Mustangs, who improved to 25-7.

"Delta's a very good team," said Sierra coach Brandi Murrish. "We wish them the best of luck representing the Big 8 at state." The Sierra Wolverines fell to 23-9.

Those who hung around after the game got to see Coach Johnson join the Mustangs for a "dip" in Delta's June Ferguson Pool after the game!

Congratulations Mustangs! See you at the Final 4 in Cerritos!
