        Delta College Celebrates National Library Week/National Poetry Month

Please join San Joaquin Delta College as they celebrate National Library Week and National Poetry Month in the Goleman Library, and the South Campus at Mountain House Library, April 14-18. Join the celebration with a week of great Goleman Library activities and workshops for family and friends. See what libraries have to offer your education!

The week kicks-off with the Delta College "Friends of the Library" Book Sale, April 14-15,
8 a.m. - 4 p.m.  A fantastic selection of books (and more) at unbelievable prices!

Celebrating National Library Week & National Poetry Month!

Events in SJDC’s Goleman Library

• (April 14, 2014): Book Sale   
  • 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Book Sale, 1st floor
  • 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friends of the Library Membership Drive (Circulation Desk)
• Tuesday (April 15, 2014): Book Sale & Showcasing Delta Students and Faculty  
  • 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Book Sale, 1st floor
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m. Chicano Literature Readings (Pedro Ramirez and Students)
  • 10:30 a.m.- 12 p.m. Delta Winds/Writers' Guild/Artifact Readings in Faculty Reading Room
  • 12-1 p.m. Michael Duffett, Sam Hatch, and Paula Sheil in a round robin poetry reading (one poem will inspire the next, and the next, etc).
  • 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friends of the Library Membership Drive (Circulation Desk)
• Wednesday (April 16, 2014): Sports Day Events in Faculty Reading Room (All Day - staff and faculty are invited to wear their sports-related jersey or other "spirit wear.")
  • 9-9:20 a.m. Sports Show and Tell for Class1 Kids from CDC or Walk-ins (Josefina Gomez)
  • 9:30-9:50 a.m. Sports Show and Tell for Class 2 Kids from CDC or Walk-ins (Josefina Gomez)
  • 12:00-1:00 p.m. Sports Trivia Contest (Delta student athletes or walk-ins)
  • A Display of Sports books from the Main Collection will be set up near the Self-check machine.
  • 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friends of the Library Membership Drive (Circulation Desk)
• Thursday (April 17, 2014): Multicultural Day Events in Faculty Reading Room
  • 8:30-9 a.m. Chinese Language, Crafts, and Calligraphy for Class 1 Kids from CDC or Walk-ins (Jun Wang)
  • 9-9:30 a.m. Mexican Stories and Crafts for Class 2 Kids from CDC or Walk-ins (Josefina Gomez and Rebecca Olmos) 
  • 9:30-10 a.m. Mediterranean Cultural Activities for Class 3 Kids from CDC or Walk-ins (Amal Elayyan)
  • 10-11 a.m. French Reading for College Students/Adults (Peggy's Students)
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Spanish Story Telling with Music for College Students/Adults (Richard Rios)
  • 2-2:30 p.m. Music Performance (Steve Schermerhorn and Jane Dominik)
  • 2-2:50 p.m. Library Workshop on PowerSearch, a meta online database for academic research in Goleman 137 (Josefina Gomez)
