Thanks to a grant from the Office of the President, the Student Activities office at San Joaquin Delta College has arranged for Christy Wright from the Dave Ramsey Speakers Bureau to provide a FREE one-hour personal finance session: Back to Basics: Ditch Debt, Build a Budget, and Show Your Money Who’s the Boss! Thursday February 20, from 12:30-1:30pm, Tillie Lewis Theater.

Money is the leading cause of stress (and divorce!) in our country and consumer debt is on the rise. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, consumer debt increased by 1.1% to $11.28 trillion in 2013. Mortgages, student loans, and credit card debt make up the top three sources of debt for Americans. In 2012 college students in California graduated with an average of $20,629 in student loan debt. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau estimates American’s owe $1 trillion dollars in outstanding student loan debt.

This event is designed to increase student’s awareness of how money works and provide strategies they can use to make responsible financial decisions. During the session, Christy will present tips and techniques based on Dave Ramsey’s money management principals and show attendees how to break free from a life of payments, take control of their money, and start making choices that lead to less stress, better relationships and bigger bank accounts.

Christy is a practicing Life-Coach and Youth Volunteer Coordinator, passionate about speaking on lifestyle management, self-worth and money matters like budgeting and avoiding debt.

“Christy Wright's practical tips on budgeting and using money wisely were met with enthusiasm and praise by the attendees. The written feedback was 100% positive! Many expressed how informative Christy was and wished she had more time!” - Diana George, Zions Bank, Smart Women Smart Money Conference.

This event is free and open to the public (tickets are not required). Doors open at 12:00pm. Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer segment. Additional questions regarding the event can be directed to Delta's Student Activities office 209-954-5100.
