Delta Center for the Arts LH Horton Jr Gallery presents the 14th Annual Student Exhibition & Art Awards Competition, April 18 – May 15, 2013.  An opening reception and awards presentation will be held Thursday, April 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  All events are free and open to the public.

This exhibit features the artworks of Delta College students. The annual juried exhibition is open to students of all disciplines, campus wide. The visual arts faculty juries the exhibition, and issues awards based on technical proficiency, creativity, and the potential for growth within the visual arts. The Awards Competition provides an opportunity for Studio Arts Majors to receive recognition and prize awards. Students competing for an award submit a body of work and address their creative goals through a written statement.

The awards were donated by: Frank W. Clancy Memorial: $600, Blanche McDaniel Memorial: $100, the Bill Williams: $100, and the LH Horton Jr Gallery: $200.

The LH Horton Jr Gallery is a non-profit organization and premier exhibition space in the city of Stockton. The primary mission of the Gallery is to promote the exhibition of quality and culturally diverse artwork in support of our students’ education and the community at large. The Gallery offers excellent exhibition opportunities to local, regional, and national artists, lenders and guest curators. The Gallery presents artists’ work in all media, with no thematic or geographic restrictions. The annual SJDC Student Art Exhibition & Awards Competitions are held at the end of Spring Semester.

The Gallery is located on the ground floor of Shima Center, and is wheelchair accessible. Admission is free and open to the public. Recommended parking is available in the Shima lot for a fee of $2. Tours are welcome and gallery talks may be addressed by contacting gallery director, Jan Marlese, at:
