This year, 310 awards will be made to 205 students, with many receiving multiple scholarships. Students are awarded scholarship money under various criteria, including grade point average (GPA) and demonstrated financial need. Awards range from $100 to $2,000.
Delta’s Scholarship Awards Ceremony has been an annual event since 1980, when the first program awarded $43,000 in scholarships. This event recognizes the achievements of San Joaquin Delta College students and the generosity of many local individuals and organizations whose financial support makes the Scholarship Awards Ceremony possible. During the past 32 years, Delta’s scholarship program has awarded $5,241,000.
Denise Donn, Director of Financial Aid & Veteran Services, says Delta’s success in building its scholarship fund depends on the labors of its employees and generosity of community members…even during tough economic times. “The pre-ceremony work takes many months. The application process is very involved and takes many hours of volunteer time. We deeply appreciate the commitment of our staff and community partners.”
Denise Donn adds, “The scholarship ceremony is one that makes everyone ‘feel great.’ Please join us to watch the joy and gratitude unfold as we help make our 2012-13 scholarship recipients’ dreams come true. This is not an experience you will want to miss!”
