New Delta College Trustee Claudia Moreno takes Oath of Office
New Delta College Trustee, Claudia Moreno, takes the oath of office from Judge Jose Avila

With family and friends present, Delta College's newest trustee, Claudia Moreno, was sworn in at Delta’s Tuesday, December 11th board meeting. The oath was administered by San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge, José Alva. Trustee Moreno replaces Mary Ann Cox, who chose not to run in the November 6th General Election.
Representing Area 2 - Central Stockton, Claudia Moreno is a San Joaquin Delta College alumni and longtime resident of Stockton. Ms. Moreno says her “strong sense for community” makes her passionate about wanting to make a difference as a Delta College trustee. “Education is the key to success for our students and community,” says Moreno. “I’m excited and look forward to offering my experience, talents and energy as a Delta College trustee. I will be a voice for our diverse community in preparing an educated, well trained work force to grow our local economy.”
As a 25-year employee of the Stockton Unified School District, Claudia Moreno has been a Dropout Prevention Specialist/Outreach Consultant for the past 21 years at Edison High School. She was a
co-coordinator of the Stockton Unified School District’s Reclaiming Our Youth Prevention Program.
Ms. Moreno is also an Independent Educational Consultant who organizes and manages educational programs such as Pacific Academia de Matemáticas and University Jumpstart at the University of the Pacific. Claudia Moreno’s specialty is working with at-risk youth and parent groups.

Renewing their four-year oath of office after successful election campaigns were: Jennet Stebbins, representing Area 1 - South Stockton; Steve Castellanos, Area 5 - Northern District, and Teresa Brown, Area 6 - Tracy.
Trustee Lisa Turner, representing Area 7 - Manteca/Escalon, was elected Board President for 2012-13. Ms. Turner becomes Delta College's first female African American board president. Janet Rivera,
Area 3 - North Stockton, moves to Vice President, and Steve Castellanos, Area 5 - Northern District, becomes Clerk of the Board for 2012-13.
The San Joaquin Delta Community College District is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of seven voting members. Trustees are elected from trustee areas during general elections throughout the district. The board also consists of a student representative appointed by Delta’s student government. Mr. Bronche Taylor is the current student representative.
