“Delta College’s ‘Boots to Books’ scholarships provide active and former members of the armed services a support team that increases their likelihood of success in an academic environment,” says Catherine Mooney, Delta’s Director of Admissions and Records and Muddy Maul & Crawl coordinator. “Delta's veterans programs provide scholarships, information, resources and services to ‘advantage’ active and former members of the armed services.” Mooney emphasizes, “These services continue from admission through graduation or transfer.”

Delta's "Boots to Books Scholarship Fund" was established to assist active military, reservists, and veterans of the armed forces of the United States with educationally-related expenses at San Joaquin Delta College. In 2012, the scholarship program was expanded to include active military, reservists, and veterans who are attending local colleges and universities. The scholarship funds are generated based on participation in events such as the Muddy Maul & Crawl, the St. Joseph's Half-Marathon, and Corned Beef & Cabbage for a Cause Dinner.
