"KONY 2012" Documentary Sequel "MOVE"
Plays at Delta College, Nov. 5
(Stockton)
San Joaquin Delta College’s “Generation4Change” club will present a screening of the documentary "MOVE" a new film from Invisible Children, the organization dedicated to exposing atrocities in Central Africa, on Monday, Nov. 5, 6 p.m. at Delta's South Forum. Admission is FREE.
MOVE is the poignant Invisible Children sequel to KONY 2012, the documentary that went viral and was viewed by over 100 million people, becoming a world-wide phenomenon. The huge influence and power of KONY 2012 mobilized the international community to end Central Africa atrocities such as murder, rape, kidnapping of children, slavery and mutilations committed by Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). The international movement also seeks to bring to justice the LRA’s leader, Joseph Kony,
one of the most vilified rebel leaders on the planet.
Kony, whose followers believe he is a prophet, is accused of brutally murdering tens of thousands of people over the course of 20 years. Kony is the number one criminal on the International Criminal Court’s most wanted list, and remains in hiding in the rugged jungles of Central Africa.
Representatives from Invisible Children, including a Ugandan who grew up and lived under the shadow of the Kony and the LRA, will attend Delta’s presentation of MOVE. Invisible Children will answer questions and provide an update on the campaign to end violence in Central Africa.
