                                    "Día  de los Muertos" Scholarship Breakfast, Nov. 1

	        Support local education and have a great breakfast to boot!
          Delta’s  La Raza Employees Association (LREA) will host a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Scholarship Breakfast on Thursday, November 1, from 7:30-Noon at  Delta College’s Mustang Room in Danner  Hall. 
A $10.00 donation for the LREA Scholarship Fund not only helps Delta College students achieve their educational goals, but comes with a complimentary ticket for delicious breakfast, that includes: Pozole, Tamales, Pan Dulce, hot chocolate or coffee. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the festive Mustang Room, or take-out and campus delivery options are available.
Local  artists have generously donated art work that will be available for purchase  during a Silent Art Auction.  All  proceeds will benefit student scholarships.
            
            Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world. The  holiday highlights gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember  friends and family members who have passed on. In Mexico, the Día de los Muertos November 1st celebration  is a national holiday. Traditions connected with the holiday include: building private 
altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the 
favorite 
foods and beverages of the departed. Family and friends visit the graves
 with these gifts and also leave possessions of the deceased.
