Delta College Releases Dr. Jeff Marsee
(Stockton, CA)
During a special March 2 closed session meeting, San Joaquin Delta College’s Board of Trustees reached a final written agreement to release Dr. Jeff Marsee as its superintendent/president.
Board President Janet Rivera and Trustee Mary Ann Cox were not present during the final closed session, sighting possible conflict of interest. In addition, Trustee Taj Khan was not present during the closed session discussions.
During the reconvened public session, Delta College legal counsel Daniel Schroeder announced the terms of the final written agreement:
“By unanimous vote of the four trustees present, the Board of Trustees has approved entering into an employment resignation agreement with Dr. Marsee, effective and authorized by the signature of President Rivera. The basic terms of the agreement are that Dr. Marsee tendered his resignation effective February 29 of 2012. The district will honor its obligations under the employment agreement buyout provisions by paying Dr. Marsee his monthly salary for a period of 18 months, commencing March 1, together with fulfilling its obligations under the health benefits under that same employment contract. In addition, the parties are mutually releasing each other from all claims that they have up to and including the date of this agreement.”
Dr. Jeff Marsee was hired as Delta’s Superintendent/President on May 1, 2011. Dr. Kathleen Hart is currently Delta’s Acting Superintendent/President.
