Delta College Oral Interpretation Duo Wins National Championship!
Delta College Oral Interp Duo National Champs! Dumarruis Steen (Rt.) & Johnny Williams (Lt.)
Delta College’s Speech and Debate team returned from the recent Portland, Oregon national tournament (3/24 - 3/26) as national champions in Oral Interp: Duo. Dumarruis Steen and Johnny Williams brought home the national title for Delta College.
This is a huge accomplishment. Delta College competed against over 80 schools, with the majority of them being 4-year colleges. Delta’s championship team will perform at Delta’s Spring Speech Showcase on April 12th, 1 - 2:30 p.m. at Delta’s West Forum. This event is free to the public!
Delta’s Speech & Debate team also performed extremely well in other events:
Extemporaneous Speaking: Nick Aguirre (Silver)
Impromptu Speaking: Nick Aguirre, (Silver) and Adam Smith (Bronze)
Prose: Bronche Taylor, (Silver) Adam Smith and Hannah Wisner, (Bronze)
Poetry: Dumarrius Steen, Bronche Taylor, and Johnny Williams, (Bronze)
Parliamentary Debate: Adam Smith and Nick Aquirre (Bronze)
