Delta Center for the Arts LH Horton Jr Gallery presents the second annual "2D–3D Exhibition and Awards Competition, 2D–3D Figurative Works" Oct. 6 – Nov. 3.

Each year the 2D–3D exhibition presents works in all media with a specific focus or theme. This national exhibition features 30 artists and 41 works of art. These works explore the use of "the figure" represented in a variety of styles, media and social-cultural content. The exhibition presents paintings, sculpture, ceramics, bronze, drawings, and printmaking. The show is quite diverse, from beautifully rendered realism, to expressively painted figures and abstracted forms. The commonality is that the figure is used to express conditions of our humanity – emotions, social and psychological issues.

The Exhibition Juror, DeWitt Cheng, is a San Francisco freelance art critic who contributes to Art Ltd., Artillery; Sculpture; East Bay Express; Art Business; and Visual Art Source. He also teaches at the U.C. Berkeley Extension in San Francisco, and occasionally curates.

The Exhibition Awards go to: Jason John, “The Lookout”, $600 Best of Show; Betsy Kendall, “Sig and Friends”, $400 2nd Place; and Michelle Bennett, “Childhood Memories”,  $300 3rd Place. Congratulations all!

The L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery is a non-profit organization and a premier exhibition space in the city of Stockton. The primary mission of the Gallery is to promote the exhibition of quality and culturally diverse artwork in support of our students’ education and the community at large. The Gallery offers excellent exhibition opportunities to local, regional, and national artists, lenders and guest curators. The Gallery presents artists’ work in all media, with no thematic or geographic restrictions. The annual Student Exhibition is held at the end of Spring Semester.

Horton Gallery admission is free and open to the public. Tours are welcome and gallery talks may be addressed by contacting gallery director, Jan Marlese, at (209) 954-5507, or jmarlese@deltacollege.edu.
