Stockton’s Cultural Heritage Board honors San Joaquin Delta College’s
DeRicco Student Services Building with its “Award of Excellence”
San Joaquin Delta College’s new DeRicco Student Services Building has been honored by Stockton’s Cultural Heritage Board with its annual Award of Excellence.
The Stockton Planning Commission and Cultural Heritage Board presents this award to a firm, association or public body it feels has made a notable civic contribution by strengthening the visual appearance of metropolitan Stockton. The award considers extraordinary efforts in the rehabilitation or maintenance of existing buildings, the imaginative design of new structures, and significant contributions to urban beautification. The DeRicco Building was among eight Stockton properties selected for the award.
Funded by the $250-million Measure L Bond in 2004, the state-of-the-art DeRicco Building’s unique architectural design maximizes available space. The design includes a second story terrace and adjoining garden which complements its visual appeal with existing landscape.
The Lawrence and Alma DeRicco Student Services Building is named after former Delta College Superintendent/President, Lawrence A. DeRicco, long considered one of Delta’s “Founding Fathers” and his wife, Alma, a dedicated advocate on behalf of the college.
The 50,000 square foot building consolidates all non-instructional student services into one convenient location, serving as a “Gateway” to the campus. New students will obtain all the services necessary to become enrolled at the college; continuing students will receive student support services. The DeRicco Student Services building embraces a “one stop” concept of serving students.
The center’s services include: Admissions and Records, Assessment, CalWORKS, Career Center, Counseling, DSPS (Disabled Student Programs & Services), EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services), Financial Aid, Outreach & Community Relations, Transfer Center, and the WorkNet Center.
