About Rondalla…
Rondalla comes from the Spanish word Ronda which means: serenade. Thus, the Rondalla is a group of musicians who specialize in romantic ballads and boleros but differentiates from Mariachi and other forms of traditional music because it is dominated by a choir rather than vocal soloists and often includes instruments like lutes and mandolins.

Delta organizer, Dr. Jose Michel, said. “It is an art form that we often miss in our Latino history.” Since its beginnings in medieval Spain, the Rondalla has adapted and evolved throughout Latin America and Saturday’s performance will include Mexican versions of the Rondalla thanks to the special appearance of the Michoacan group. "We [as a first generation Mexican] have a tendency to listen to mariachi music which is sort of commercialized and this is nothing like that.” Dr. Michel said.  “This is true romance of the cultural art of music. When 25 men are singing...it sends chills up your spine.”
