For Immediate Release:
Delta College to Hold a Second Round of Facilities Master Plan Public Meetings
San Joaquin Delta College will hold a second round of Facilities Master Plan Public Meetings for 2010. The first round of meetings was head during February - March of this year. Input from these sessions will be used by the College and its facilities planners to design future educational services and renovations for existing spaces. Public input will help shape recommendations for how Delta College operates its facilities maintenance, landscaping principles, traffic/parking issues, and environmentally sustainable practices.
The Facilities Plan serves as a supplement to the College's Educational Master Plan, a long-range document that outlines how demographic, regional population, labor market needs and economic factors influence the College's educational and vocational offerings.
The Facilities Master Plan meetings provide an opportunity for the College to share its future educational plans with citizens in its district. Members of the community will learn about specific programs planned for various College centers, and how the college will act on their suggestions.
Delta College Director of Facilities Management, Maria Baker, says, “The follow up meetings will share with the community what has been learned regarding college programs that may be offered at various sites. The next step is to develop a facilities list that will include spaces that tie back to Delta College programs, projected costs, and the potential need for property purchases in various locations.”
Delta College held one second round meeting at the Tokay High Library on May 6th.
