                            Delta College Jazz Festival Features Gordon Goodwin’s
                                                   Big Phat Band, Dec. 5th
(Stockton, CA)

Delta College’s annual Jazz Festival presents Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 8pm in Atherton Auditorium.  Tickets are $30.00 or $25.00, depending upon seat location.

This concert caps the all day Delta College Jazz Festival, from 8am to 5pm, which is attended by schools from all over California.  Jazz aficionados always look forward to this annual Delta college event, which features a variety of Jazz bands and styles playing in all three Delta College theaters: Atherton, Tillie Lewis and the Studio Theater.

Wristbands for admittance to Festival events during the day (8am – 5pm) are $10.00 and available the day of the Festival. The DCA Box Office is open Tuesday – Friday, 11am-6pm, Sat, 11am-3pm, and 2 hours before performances; (209) 954-5110. Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band is an 18-piece jazz ensemble that “celebrates and personifies the best of the big band tradition with a very contemporary and original sound.” The Big Phat Band is comprised of L.A.’s finest musicians. Standing Room Only audiences have enjoyed the craftsmanship of this hard swinging, large jazz ensemble.  Gordon Goodwin’s witty and insightful arrangements propel the listener on a journey through a myriad of styles: Latin, blues, swing, classical, hard-hitting jazz, and even a tribute to Looney Tunes!

“The Phat Pack” debuted on national TV on NBC’s “The Other Half,” hosted by Dick Clark and has garnered excellent critical reviews for its many appearances nationally and in the Los Angeles area. Members of the Big Phat Band have performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including: Madonna, Celine Dion, Billy Joel, Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, Johnny Mathis, Ray Charles, Paul McCartney, Toni Braxton, Christina Aguilera, Diana Ross, Brian Setzer, and Paul Anka.
