For Immediate Release, Delta Forensics opens the season with a fourth place finish in San Francisco! (Stockton, CA) The Delta College Mustang Forensics Team opened their season in proper fashion this past weekend at San Francisco State University with three days of competition against both 2-year and 4-year schools. New faces were abundant as the Mustangs brought a portion of their incoming freshman class, along with several veterans to show the new students the ropes. Director of Forensics Steven Graham said, “We have a lot of potential on this team, it is going to be a very exciting time for Delta College as we grow this program to represent the incredible talent inside Delta students.” The Mustangs are joined this year by new assistant coach and adjunct instructor Kasey Gardner. Last year Gardner coached the University of the Pacific to a runner-up finish for the national debate championship in Parliamentary Debate. “I’m excited about the opportunities that forensics can offer Delta students, it is going to be a challenge but we are just going to have to get better than Pacific,” said a smirking Gardner. Returning team member Angelina Norwood explained, “It’s great to be back, this team is really going to come together in the coming months.” Mark your calendars and come out to see what the team is all about at the Fall 2009 Speech Showcase. This is an informal public performance to let the academic community at Delta see what Forensics is about. The fall performance will be on Thursday, October 29th from 2-4 pm in the Tillie Lewis Theatre. It is free of charge. The team next travels to the Kevin Towhy Invitational at Diablo Valley College for an east-bay throw down on October 23-25. Results – San Francisco State Season Opener: Individual Events, First Half: Individual Events, Second Half: Debate: If you would like more information on the team, or know students who might be interested in joining please contact Steven Graham, sgraham@deltacollege.edu ###
