Community College Week Magazine Ranks Delta College 25th Nationally for Associate Degree Graduates

(Stockton, CA)

Community College Week, the independent magazine serving Community, Technical and Junior Colleges, has released its 2009 edition of “Top 100 Associate Degree Producers.” These rankings are derived from a pool of more than 5000 institutions across the United States.

Once again, San Joaquin Delta College placed in the “Top 25” for AA/AS degrees in all disciplines, graduating an impressive 2,231 students in 2008. 1,393 of those students were Liberal Arts, General Studies & Humanities graduates, earning Delta a national ranking of 19th in that category.

The College earned high placements in six additional categories, including a #1 ranking for AA/AS degrees in the Family & Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences category, with 90 graduates.

Delta maintained a top five placement for degrees awarded to Asian Americans, graduating 510 to finish in 4th place. In addition, 501 Hispanics earned degrees for a notable 23rd place national ranking.

Delta College Superintendent/President, Dr. Raul Rodriguez, is pleased with the results of the latest rankings. “These are statistics, they only tell part of the story. For each number, there is a unique person who will go into the world and take a small part of San Joaquin Delta College with them.” Dr. Rodriguez emphasizes, “These graduates represent our mission and our legacy.”
