Congressman Jerry McNerney hosts a FREE Tax Preparation Workshop at Delta College
(Stockton)
Congressman Jerry McNerney will host a FREE Tax Preparation Workshop to aid families who earn $55,000 or less per year and are not self employed. This workshop will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9th from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. at San Joaquin Delta College’s Danner Hall.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) of the Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin will be on hand to offer free, confidential assistance. VITA staff will help determine if you qualify for certain tax benefits. In many instances, they will even be able to electronically file your tax return for you that day. Those who need assistance are encouraged to stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to meet
one-on-one with tax preparation service providers.
To qualify for tax filing at the workshop, you must have an income of $55,000 or less and not be self-employed. Additionally, you will need to provide ALL of the following:
* Proof of ID.
* Social Security Cards for you, your spouse and dependents and/or a SSN
verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration.
* Birth dates for you, your spouse and d ependents on the tax return.
* Current year’s tax package, if received.
* Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R from all employer.
* Interest and dividend statements from Banks (Forms 1099.
* A copy of last years Federal and State returns if available.
* Bank Routing & Account Numbers for Direct Deposit.
* Total Paid for day-care provider & providers SSN.
* If renting, your landlord’s name, address & phone number.
* For married, electronically filling a joint tax return, both spouses must
be present to sign forms.
