Retired Delta College Instructor, Richard Maslow, Included in Marquis’ Who’s Who in American Education
(Stockton, CA)
Retired Delta College psychology instructor, Richard E. Maslow, is included in the 7th Edition of Marquis' Who's Who in American Education. Maslow taught psychology at Delta from 1963 to 1991 and was respected and admired by his students and colleagues. His method of teaching was student-centered. Even though his classes were composed of 275 students each semester, he set up his classes in a way that allowed him the opportunity to really know each student. It was at the Miami American Psychological Convention, Miami, FL in 1970 that Maslow was the only Community College instructor asked to speak. In 1972, he was asked to speak at the California State Psychological Association Convention in Los Angeles. His publications include Self-Check Tests, Seminars, Multimedia Make Larger Classes Pleasant, Profitable, Educational Media, Vol. 1, No.7 (Nov 1969), Papers: The One ClQ,ss Load, American Psychological Convention, Washington, D.C., 1969, and Student Centeredness in Teaching, American Psychological Convention, Miami, FL, 1970. Maslow served many years as a member of the Lincoln Unified School District Board of Trustees. He was also a textbook consultant for Harper & Row, McGraw-Hill, Houghton-Mifflin and Wadsworth Publishing Company. His professional affiliations are the American Psychological Association, the Western Psychological Association, the California School Boards Association and the San Joaquin County psychological Society for which he served as president 1977-78. He served three years in the United States Army and has been an active participant in many Stockton community-based volunteer programs. Richard Maslow has been retired from San Joaquin Delta College for 17 years and has enjoyed traveling extensively around the world with Karen, his wife of many years.
